Tesla Robotaxi Network Officially Launches in Miami
Tesla has officially expanded its autonomous ride-hailing Robotaxi network to Florida. The company announced the rollout on X, declaring that its self-driving vehicles are now active on the streets of Miami.
The official announcement shared on X read, “¿Qué lo que Miami? Robotaxi now available in Miami” and included a map outlining the initial launch zone. This development marks the third US state to host Tesla’s driverless network since its original debut last year.
The initial service area in Miami is targeted, covering a geofence of roughly 10 to 14 square miles. It focuses primarily on central and western sections of the city, encompassing high-traffic routes around Miami International Airport. The zone includes major local transit corridors like the Palmetto Expressway and Tamiami Trail.
Tesla first launched its autonomous network in Austin, Texas, before introducing employee testing in the San Francisco Bay Area. In April, the platform added unsupervised public rides in Dallas and Houston. Miami represents the first step into a broader regional expansion planned for later this year, with future deployments expected to target Phoenix, Las Vegas, Orlando, and Tampa.
The current launch focuses on dense tourist and transit corridors, establishing a foothold in Florida’s busy travel market. Riders in the designated Miami zone can now request rides directly through the platform application as Tesla scales its regional fleet numbers.
