Tesla Teases Stretched Model YL Variant With Cryptic Dachshund Post
Tesla has ignited widespread speculation regarding a potential new vehicle variant following a series of cryptic social media updates marking the company’s 23rd anniversary.
The chatter began when Tesla published an anniversary render illustrating its current and future product ecosystem. Sharp-eyed enthusiasts quickly noticed what appeared to be an elongated, stretched version of the Model Y positioned at the centre of the image.
Tesla added fuel to the fire hours later by posting a follow-up image of a dachshund dog alongside the caption, “Looking forward to the long weekend.”
The playful hint quickly rippled through the electric vehicle community. Many observers immediately pointed out the dual meaning, suggesting the post is a direct nod to a long-wheelbase Model YL variant that’s only available in Asia Pacific regions.
A six-seat version of the Model Y has already established itself as a massive sales success in international markets like Australia and China due to its family-focused layout.
While Tesla has not officially confirmed a North American debut, industry analysts suspect production for a domestic version could begin at Gigafactory Texas as early as this autumn, potentially targeting a premier Launch Series price point between $59,000 and $65,000.
