Tesla’s Entry-Level Cybertruck Is Real. Here’s What the First Owners Think
Tesla has started delivering the $59,000 US entry-level Cybertruck, and early owners are already sharing their first impressions.
Early owner Shea Duncan posted his delivery experience on X on Wednesday, noting he ordered his truck back on February 20. Coming from an F-150, he was pleasantly surprised by what he got for the price.
“Just took delivery of the 59k @cybertruck!” Duncan said. “Nice to have cloth seats again and they look great. More to come on drive quality. Previous truck was an F-150.”
He followed up with a pretty strong endorsement on the driving experience, saying “everything I needed and the ride quality is noticeably better than the F150.”
The entry-level Cybertruck doesn’t have everything the pricier models do, but Tesla made some deliberate tradeoffs to hit that price point. The seats are cloth instead of synthetic leather (this is also the case for the Model Y Standard RWD), the suspension is a fixed coil setup rather than the adaptive air suspension found on premium trims, and the drivetrain is a single-motor rear-wheel drive configuration instead of dual-motor AWD or the tri-motor Cyberbeast. The audio steps down to a 7-speaker sound system compared to the 15-speaker setup on premium trims, and payload capacity comes in at 2,006 lbs versus 2,500 lbs on higher models.
It’s worth noting that when Tesla first revealed the Cybertruck, a sub-$40,000 US single-motor variant was originally promised. That version never materialized due to rising manufacturing costs, and for the first few years Tesla focused exclusively on high-end Foundation Series models topping out at around $100,000. The $59,000 RWD variant is the closest Tesla has come to delivering on that original promise of a more affordable Cybertruck.
