Tesla’s Self-Driving Software Just Beat Human Drivers in the Netherlands. The Gap Is Huge.

Tesla has released new data showing its Full Self-Driving (FSD) Supervised software is performing significantly better than human drivers in the Netherlands.

According to data shared by the official Tesla Europe account on X, vehicles operating on FSD Supervised recorded 3.5 times fewer collisions on public Dutch roads over the last two months compared to manual driving.

The data, which tracks fleet milestones from April 10 to June 5, 2026, reveals a sharp contrast in safety metrics between the software and human operations. On highways, Tesla vehicles drove 16.6 million kilometres on FSD with zero recorded collisions, compared to 33 collisions over 158.7 million kilometres driven manually. On non-highway roads, FSD was 1.6 times safer, logging three collisions across 7 million kilometres compared to 109 collisions over 152.9 million kilometres of manual driving.

The safety report also highlights how the software smooths out aggressive or erratic driving behaviours. When compared directly to a manually driven Tesla, vehicles operating on FSD Supervised saw 14.9 times fewer automatic emergency braking events. Harsh acceleration was reduced by 8.8 times, while harsh braking events dropped by 7.3 times. Drivers using the software also experienced eight times fewer hard swerves.

While European Tesla owners continue to wait for a wider rollout and full regulatory approvals across the continent, this specific safety dataset from the Netherlands offers a clear look at how the technology handles complex European road infrastructure.

“If you know someone who needs to see this … tag ’em,” said Tesla.
