Tesla Delivers First Model Y L Units in Singapore

Tesla has officially started deliveries of the new Model Y L in Singapore. Tom Zhu, a senior executive at Tesla, shared the news on X to congratulate the first group of owners in the region.

The first delivery event featured several vehicles, including the popular Ultra Red and white paint options, decorated with large red bows for the new owners. The arrival of this specific variant marks a significant expansion for Tesla in the Singapore market.

While Singapore celebrates these first handovers, the news has sparked questions from Tesla fans in other regions. In the comments of the announcement, many residents from Canada and the United States asked when the Model Y L might be available in North America and similarly in Europe.

The Tesla Model Y L is a long-wheelbase, three-row design specifically to meet the high demand for premium, family-sized electric vehicles across the Asia-Pacific region. Manufactured at Gigafactory Shanghai—where it originally debuted in August 2025—the vehicle features a chassis stretched by 150 mm and a heightened roofline, bringing its overall length to nearly five metres.

This expanded footprint allows Tesla to ditch the cramped, standard seven-seat bench in favour of a premium 2+2+2 layout. The second row highlights two ventilated captain’s chairs with integrated armrests and power-reclining capabilities, offering a walk-through path to a genuine third row that comfortably accommodates adults (well, small ones).

Following its massive success in China, Tesla launched a sweeping expansion of the Model Y L across Asia, opening orders in major markets including Japan, South Korea, Thailand, Singapore, Malaysia, Australia, New Zealand and India, with regional deliveries commencing in the second quarter of 2026. Certified with a substantial 97.25 kWh battery pack (gross capacity) in select regions like South Korea, the dual-motor AWD variant delivers 456 horsepower and a WLTP-rated range of up to 681 kilometres while maintaining a 0 to 100 km/h acceleration time of 5.0 seconds.

The Model Y L also features a real-time adaptive comfort suspension, improved aerodynamics with a 0.216 drag coefficient, plus integrated Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) function capable of pushing 3.3 kW of power to external tools or camping equipment directly from the main high-voltage battery.
