Tesla has officially postponed the highly anticipated Signature Edition Delivery Event for the final Model S and Model X production units, originally scheduled for May 12, 2026.
In an email sent to customers, the company apologized for the inconvenience but did not provide a new date for the festivities.
The sudden change has sparked frustration among Tesla’s most loyal customers. Brooks Weisblat of DragTimes shared his disappointment on X, noting that he had already spent thousands of dollars on travel arrangements. Because the event was meant to take place in just a few days, many owners are now facing lost deposits on flights and hotels.
Tesla is marking the end of an era with a final ultra-limited Signature Edition run of its flagship Model S and Model X as the company prepares to repurpose its Fremont factory lines for Optimus robot production. This invite-only series is capped at just 350 total vehicles, consisting of 250 Model S units and 100 Model X units in a six-seat configuration.
These final flagships are based on the top-spec Plaid powertrain and feature exclusive Garnet Red paint paired with gold Tesla badging and gold Plaid accents. The interior is equally distinct, featuring white Alcantara with gold piping and numbered dashboard plates to signify their place in the production sequence. To maintain exclusivity, buyers must sign a one-year no-resale agreement, giving Tesla the right of first refusal if the owner decides to sell later.
Pricing for these collector’s items is set at $159,420 USD for both models, representing a premium of roughly $35,000 over standard Plaid inventory. While performance specs mirror the standard Plaid’s 1,020 horsepower output, the Signature Editions come fully loaded with the Luxe Package, which includes Full Self-Driving Supervised, free lifetime Supercharging, and premium connectivity.
The Model S variant is equipped with 21-inch Velarium wheels and carbon ceramic brakes with gold calipers, while the Model X sits on 22-inch Machina wheels. With deliveries slated to begin in May 2026, these vehicles serve as the definitive closing chapter for the original luxury models that defined the brand’s early success.
