Tesla Just Trademarked a New Roadster Badge and It Looks Incredible
Tesla has filed a new trademark application for its upcoming Roadster, revealing a stylized badge and wordmark for the long-awaited electric supercar. The filing, discovered by Sawyer Merritt, includes a diamond-shaped emblem featuring three vertical lines at the base.
According to the official trademark description, the design is intended to evoke feelings of “speed, propulsion, heat, or wind.” The application includes three distinct versions of the branding: a standalone wordmark, the badge itself, and a combination of both.
You can see the new badge on the far right. It almost gives off some Tony Stark vibes, no?
The news comes as Tesla shifts its focus toward the Roadster following the ramp-up of Tesla Semi production. First unveiled in 2017, the next-generation Roadster has faced several production delays, with Elon Musk recently hinting that the car could finally enter production in 2025 or 2027.
Tesla aims for the vehicle to be a “halo” car for the brand, promising a 0–60 mph time of under one second when equipped with optional SpaceX cold-gas thrusters. The filing of new trademarks is often a signal that a company is moving closer to a formal product launch or marketing campaign.
While a specific release date of the Roadster remains unconfirmed (the reveal was delayed), the updated branding suggests that development of the flagship supercar is actively moving forward.
