Tesla Insurance Update: FSD Supervised Miles Now Earn Perfect Safety Score

Tesla has officially launched Safety Score v3.0, introducing a major update that rewards owners for using the company’s advanced driver assistance software. Under the new version, every mile driven with FSD Supervised enabled will automatically receive a perfect score of 100.

This change is designed to help drivers maintain a higher average safety score over time. Since Tesla Insurance premiums in select states are calculated based on real-time driving behaviour, a higher score directly results in lower monthly insurance payments for owners.

The update to Safety Score v3.0 applies to new insurance policies in the following six states:

  • Arizona
  • Illinois
  • Indiana
  • Tennessee
  • Texas
  • Virginia

These states with Tesla Insurance do not get this new policy: California, Colorado, Florida, Maryland, Minnesota, Nevada, Ohio, Oregon, and Utah.

By weighting FSD Supervised miles as a perfect 100, Tesla is incentivizing the use of its autonomous technology while providing a clear financial path for owners to reduce their cost of ownership. This version of the Safety Score continues Tesla’s strategy of using telematics to offer more competitive rates than traditional insurance providers.
