A recent decompile of Tesla’s Robotaxi app version 26.3.0 has revealed significant upgrades designed to make autonomous ride-hailing a frictionless experience, as per Tesla_App_iOS. The most notable addition is the integration of Apple Pay and Google Pay, allowing riders to bypass manual credit card entry. Users will be able to authenticate fares instantly through their device’s native wallet and set these as permanent default payment methods for all future trips.

The discovery of Google Wallet calls and specific UI assets also strongly suggests that an Android version of the app is nearing completion. Beyond payments, the update introduces several visual polishments, including map pins that scale and bounce smoothly, and a primary action button that uses the phone’s gyroscope to create a 3D parallax effect when the device is tilted.

Safety and Rider Controls

The decompile provides a detailed look at how passengers will interact with a driverless vehicle. New safety strings like “PullOverCommand” and “DisengageDriverless” act as an ultimate safety net, allowing riders to command the vehicle to stop immediately if they feel uncomfortable. These commands utilize the “VCSEC” secure communication protocol, the same system used for Tesla phone keys, ensuring that instructions are authenticated and executed instantly.

Remote Troubleshooting

Since there is no human driver to assist with technical glitches, Tesla has baked in remote recovery features. Passengers or support agents can use a “ResetInfotainment” command to reboot the car’s main screen if it freezes during a trip. Furthermore, an “EnableRecoveryMode” string suggests a system where a remote Tesla operator can take over or guide the vehicle if it becomes physically stuck or encounters a complex mapping error.

Other quality-of-life improvements found in the code include the ability to edit a destination directly from a lock screen notification and dynamic route lines that fade as the vehicle progresses. An animated arrow will also help guide riders to their specific pickup spot, ensuring they can easily locate their autonomous ride.

This month, Tesla is officially starting mass production of its Cybercab at Giga Texas and the Robotaxi app is required to hail rides from the self-driving vehicle.
