The Boring Company to Build 3 New Loops: New Orleans, Baltimore, and Dallas
The Boring Company (TBC) has officially announced three winners for its Tunnel Vision Challenge, potentially bringing high-speed underground transit to three major American cities. After reviewing a massive number of entries, the company selected the NOLA Loop in New Orleans, the Ravens Loop in Baltimore, and the University Hills Loop in Dallas as the top projects.
The next step involves a deep dive into the logistics for all three locations. TBC is paying for the entire review process, which includes drilling into the ground to check soil conditions and mapping out existing underground pipes and wires. The company is also meeting with local mayors, community groups, and business leaders to ensure the projects have the support they need to move forward.
If the research shows that all three tunnels are possible to build, TBC plans to fund and construct every one of them. If only one or two pass the test, the company will focus its resources on those specific sites. This aggressive approach aims to prove that underground loops can solve traffic problems in very different urban environments.
In a surprise move, TBC also highlighted two other projects that were too good to ignore. While they didn’t win the main challenge, the company will still work with the teams behind the Hendersonville Utility Tunnel in Tennessee and the Morgan’s Wonderland Tunnel in San Antonio. TBC hopes to find a way to get these built alongside the main winners.
