Tesla Rolls Out Anti-Dooring Safety Feature for Cybertruck
Tesla is introducing a new safety update designed to protect cyclists and pedestrians from dooring accidents. The anti-dooring protection feature is now rolling out to the Cybertruck, joining the Model 3 and Model Y in offering the technology as a standard safety spec.
The system uses the vehicle’s external cameras to monitor blind spots for approaching hazards. If a cyclist, pedestrian, or another vehicle is detected moving toward the car, the system will automatically delay the door from opening. This split-second pause is intended to prevent occupants from accidentally swinging a door into the path of oncoming traffic.
This update reflects a growing focus on urban safety for the electric vehicle manufacturer. By utilizing existing hardware to identify vulnerable road users, Tesla aims to reduce a common type of collision in busy city environments where bike lanes and parked cars are in close proximity.
The feature is being delivered through a software update, ensuring that current owners of the latest models benefit from the enhanced detection capabilities.
