Tesla’s New $59,990 Cybertruck: See the Key Features Cut to Lower the Price

Tesla Cybertruck AWD

Tesla unveiled its most affordable Cybertruck to date on Thursday night, launching a new Dual Motor AWD version priced at $59,990 USD. This entry-level model significantly lowers the barrier to entry for the stainless steel pickup, which previously required a much higher investment for the Foundation Series or Cyberbeast trims.

Despite the lower price point, the new Cybertruck AWD model retains the core mechanical DNA of the truck. It features the signature steer-by-wire system and four-wheel steering, making the massive vehicle easier to manoeuvre in tight spaces. It also offers an estimated range of 325 miles and a 0–60 mph time of 4.1 seconds.

Where Tesla Cut Costs

To reach the sub-$60,000 price, Tesla has streamlined the interior and hardware. Unlike the premium trims, this version uses coil springs with adaptive damping instead of an air suspension system. The interior features a durable textile material designed for easy cleaning, though it loses the ventilated front seats and the 9-inch rear passenger screen found in more expensive models.

Other key differences in the $59,990 Cybertruck include:

  • Audio: A 7-speaker sound system compared to the 15-speaker premium setup.
  • Payload: A capacity of 2,006 lbs, down from the 2,500 lbs seen on higher trims.
  • Towing: Rated at 7,500 lbs.
  • Storage: The 6’ x 4’ composite bed is referred to as a “standard bed” rather than the “Vault,” as it lacks the under-floor trunk found in premium versions.

The truck still remains a mobile power bank, featuring bed outlets (two 120V and one 240V) and full Powershare capability to provide energy to a home or other devices during an outage.

Cybertruck Context and Recent News

This launch comes as Tesla continues to ramp up production at Giga Texas. Recently, the Cybertruck has dominated headlines for its “off-grid” capabilities and the rollout of the Powershare feature, which allows the truck to back up a home’s electricity for several days. However, the vehicle has also faced scrutiny over early software bugs and the durability of its stainless steel finish in different climates.

The introduction of a more affordable AWD variant suggests Tesla is moving past the early-adopter Foundation Series phase and is now targeting the heart of the American pickup truck market.
