Starlink’s App Just Got Smarter: New AI Tool Fixes Setup

SpaceX has quietly rolled out a major update to the Starlink app, bringing meaningful improvements that cater to both everyday users and large-scale customers managing dozens—or even hundreds—of terminals.
The update was detailed by SpaceX and Tesla watcher @SERobinsonJr, who shared insights from Starlink Senior Software Engineer Aaron Grider. One of the most notable upgrades is a revamped sky scanning tool that now uses real-time, on-device computer vision. Instead of relying on post-processing after a scan, the app can instantly segment the sky and identify obstructions live, offering faster and more accurate previews when users are setting up or relocating their dish.
For enterprise users, fleet operators, and power users, Starlink has also overhauled account management. The redesigned layout now scales from a single terminal all the way up to hundreds, with optimized tablet and large-screen split views. Users can see terminal and subscription status at a glance, search across accounts, and switch between terminals far more quickly. A unified side menu ties everything together, making the app feel much more purpose-built for growing Starlink deployments.

Under the hood, SpaceX has also made major architectural changes. The app now fully adopts React Native’s New Architecture, improving performance and reliability across platforms. On iOS, the update introduces Apple’s new iOS 26 Liquid Glass design language, while Android users benefit from Android 16’s edge-to-edge layouts and updated permissions APIs.
The timing makes sense. Starlink doubled its user base in 2025 alone and now serves over 9.2 million users across more than 150 markets, putting increased pressure on its software to scale cleanly. At the same time, SpaceX is aggressively lowering the barrier to entry. The Starlink Mini Kit dropped to its lowest price ever this week at $199 and is even available for free through the company’s rebranded Residential Max plan, making the improved app experience more important than ever for new users coming on board.
Taken together, this update shows Starlink maturing beyond a simple connectivity tool into a polished platform designed to support everything from individual households to massive global deployments.
