Tesla’s New 60-Stall Supercharger Is Ready for the Holidays

Tesla is continuing its aggressive expansion of the world’s largest DC fast-charging network just in time for the end-of-year holiday rush. The latest addition is a massive new Supercharger station located at 2742 Paxville Highway in Manning, South Carolina, featuring 60 individual stalls equipped with solar canopies. This site now stands as one of the largest Supercharger installations on the East Coast of the U.S.

The timing of this opening isn’t a coincidence. Tesla’s Director of Charging, Max de Zegher, noted that the company is in the middle of an end-of-year Supercharger push to support holiday travel. This follows a holiday season that saw Supercharger usage hit a shocking Thanksgiving record, highlighting the critical need for more stalls during peak travel periods. According to de Zegher, Tesla uses a highly data-driven approach for site sizing, relying on constant demand forecasting to build what is critically needed rather than simply chasing market share or specific stall count goals.

This new South Carolina location joins a rapidly growing global footprint, as Tesla recently hit 75,000 Superchargers worldwide. While 60 stalls is impressive, it follows the launch of the Oasis Supercharger last month — currently Tesla’s largest worldwide at a staggering 164 stalls.

These stations are also becoming more accessible to the broader electric vehicle community. In addition to serving Tesla vehicles, Superchargers now support a growing list of non-Tesla EVs, with BMW drivers being the latest to join the fray. To keep these high-traffic locations moving efficiently, Tesla is reportedly also working on a virtual queuing feature spotted in recent software updates, which should help further eliminate wait times during busy periods.
