Tesla Launches Plaid Pickleball Paddle with Selkirk

Tesla has added an unexpected new item to its online shop: a limited-edition Plaid Pickleball Paddle created in collaboration with premium paddle maker Selkirk.

Priced at $350, the Tesla Plaid Pickleball Paddle by Selkirk borrows its name from Tesla’s top-tier Model S Plaid and Model X Plaid vehicles, and leans heavily into performance-focused design — both in looks and materials. At the time of writing, the paddle is already sold out, though interested buyers can sign up to get notified by email when it’s back in stock.

According to Tesla’s official Shop listing, the paddle was designed with the same mindset the automaker applies to its vehicles. “Inspired by the aerodynamic design of Tesla vehicles, the Tesla Plaid Pickleball Paddle by Selkirk is a technologically advanced paddle co-created from the ground up through relentless testing and ideation. Every curve and layer was engineered and optimized for high performance play.”

Tesla says the collaboration came together after discussions between Selkirk Co-Owner and Director of Research & Development Tom Barnes and Tesla Director of Product Design Javier Verdura. “Together with Selkirk, we have created a paddle that unifies Tesla’s first-principles approach to product development and Selkirk’s industry-leading manufacturing expertise,” Tesla explains.

Selkirk echoed that sentiment, calling the release “years in the making” and noting that the USAP-approved paddle is “one of the top-tier paddles that we provide,” with extensive work done on composites to ensure it “not only looks unique, but also offers peak playability.”

From a specs standpoint, this isn’t just a novelty item. The paddle weighs between 7.8 and 8.1 ounces, measures 16.4 inches in length and 7.5 inches in width, and has a thickness of 16mm. It uses Selkirk’s InfiniGrit surface and Florek Carbon Fiber for the face, paired with a PureFoam core and MOI tuning weights. Tesla also highlights its edgeless design, integrated weights, and open throat face, all aimed at maximizing swing aerodynamics.

The paddle ships with a carrying bag and slots neatly into Tesla’s growing lineup of Plaid-branded merchandise. Over the years, Tesla has released Plaid mugs, apparel, and accessories, including a Plaid track hat celebrating the Model S Plaid’s Nürburgring lap record.

The new paddle also joins a broader wave of Tesla Shop releases just in time for the holidays. Recent additions include Optimus robot action figures, Christmas-themed drinkware, Cybertruck and Cybercab wind-up racers, and other items that would make great stocking stuffers.

Whether the Plaid Pickleball Paddle becomes a recurring product or remains a limited-run collectible remains to be seen — but judging by how fast it sold out, demand is clearly there.
