Tesla Owners Can Win Free Supercharging for Life—Here’s How

Tesla is kicking off the new year with a major perk for some of its most active Supercharger users. The company announced that it will award free lifetime Supercharging to nine Tesla owners in January 2026 — three winners in each of the Charging Passport’s competitive categories. The giveaway was highlighted by the official @teslacharging account on Tuesday, which encouraged owners to open their Charging Passport to participate.

The promotion arrives just days after Tesla rolled out Charging Passport, a year-end recap feature in the Tesla app that works a lot like Spotify Wrapped or YouTube’s annual summaries. Charging Passport debuted in version 4.51.5 of the Tesla app, which started rolling out earlier this week and also added Apple Find My-style precise location tracking for your Tesla, making it easier than ever to pinpoint your vehicle.

Charging Passport appears under the Charging tab in the app and gives owners a detailed breakdown of their Supercharger activity in 2025. It also includes collectible charging badges — such as the Iconic Charger badge for visiting flagship locations like the Tesla Diner or the massive Oasis Supercharger, Tesla’s largest station to date with 164 stalls. Other badges include Explorer, Green Saver, and several themed rewards tied to mileage, energy usage, and specific Supercharger sites.

The feature adds a fun, light layer of gamification — and now, a real incentive. In January, the company will award free Supercharging (for as long as winners own their vehicles) to the top three users in each of the following categories:

  • Longest distance between Superchargers
  • Most energy charged
  • Most unique Supercharger sites visited

How to view your Charging Passport

  1. Open the Tesla app on your phone.
  2. Tap Charging on the home screen.
  3. Select Charging Passport 2025.

To qualify for the competition, you must open your Charging Passport at least once before January 1, 2026. Tesla will determine winners based on the most recent stats displayed before the cutoff. You’ll also need Tesla app version 4.51.5 or later, a vehicle running software version 2021.44.25 or newer, at least three unique Supercharger visits in 2025, and Charge Stats enabled. Head over to Tesla’s website for more details on the contest.

Tesla’s big 2025 Holiday Update is also rolling out in parallel. This year’s release brings festive UI elements, more customization for the vehicle icon, expanded voice navigation features powered by Grok, new Toybox features like an in-car photobooth, enhanced media playback, improved Dashcam analytics, and plenty more quality-of-life upgrades.

With Charging Passport, Tesla has given owners something fun to compare and share — and with a prize as big as free Supercharging, there’s never been a better reason to check your stats before the year closes out.
