Tesla Hikes Model 3/Y Windshield Protection Plan Prices

Tesla is notifying U.S. owners that the price of its Windshield Protection Plan for the Model 3 and Model Y is increasing next year. Longtime Tesla watcher Sawyer Merritt (@SawyerMerritt) first spotted the change, sharing a screenshot of Tesla’s official email to customers.
In the message, Tesla writes: “We want to inform you of an upcoming price change to our Tesla Windshield Protection Plan. Starting January 1, 2026, the new monthly subscription fee for your Model 3 will increase from $12 to $16.” The company adds, “The new price will apply starting with your first payment on or after January 1, 2026. All other benefits and coverage details of your plan remain unchanged.”

Windshield Protection includes one free front windshield replacement every 12 months. It also covers unlimited chip and minor crack repairs, with additional full windshield replacements costing a $100 deductible per incident.
The monthly Windshield Protection Plan is available directly through the Tesla app and currently costs $12/month for the Model 3 and Model Y, $15/month for the Model S, $23/month for the Model X, and $35/month for the Cybertruck. Tesla first launched windshield protection subscriptions for its S3XY lineup this past June before extending the offering to the Cybertruck later in August.
To subscribe, Tesla owners simply need to:
- Open the Tesla app.
- Tap Upgrades > Service Plans > Windshield Protection.
- Review the terms and tap Subscribe.
Windshield protection is one of several à-la-carte service subscriptions Tesla has rolled out this year. In August, the company also introduced a monthly wheel and tire protection plan for its EVs, giving owners another way to manage repair costs without paying up front. Both windshield protection and wheel/tire protection — alongside other premium perks like FSD (Supervised) and free lifetime Supercharging — are bundled in Tesla’s Luxe Package, which comes included with higher-end offerings such as the Model S, Model X, and Cyberbeast.
For now, only the Model 3 and Model Y price increase is confirmed. It remains unclear whether the Model S, X, or Cybertruck will also see a subscription bump heading into 2026, so stay tuned.
