Tesla is officially rolling into Colombia. The company has launched a new demo drive program in the country, with test drives set to begin in Bogotá on November 21 and in Medellín on November 25. According to Tesla’s newly published event page, demo drives will continue in both cities through December 31, 2025, giving Colombian drivers more than a month to get behind the wheel.
“Be one of the first to take a demo drive in a Tesla on the streets of Colombia. Sign up to schedule in Bogota or Medellin and a Tesla Advisor will contact you,” Tesla says on its event page.
The move follows Tesla’s teaser last week in which the automaker shared a cryptic video featuring a map of Colombia, hinting that a launch in the country could be around the corner. It’s now clear that the company was gearing up to take its first official steps into the market.
Colombia will become Tesla’s second market in South America after the company launched in Chile last year, allowing customers there to order the Model 3 and Model Y. Tesla has been steadily ramping its presence on the continent, recently opening its first South American showroom in Santiago, Chile — a notable milestone as it expands sales and support infrastructure across the region.
The company has also debuted a dedicated X account for Latin America, @Tesla_LatAm, which this week posted a short teaser clip captioned “Soon in Colombia,” building excitement ahead of the official launch.
With demo drives now confirmed and Tesla’s regional communications channels ramping up, it appears the company is laying the groundwork for a full market entry. While Tesla hasn’t announced exactly when customers in Colombia will be able to place orders, the timing of the test drive program suggests it’s not far off.
As Tesla continues its international expansion, Colombia — a country with growing interest in EV adoption — is shaping up to be its next major foothold in South America.
