Tesla Q3 2025 Earnings Call: Cybercab Production, Optimus Update, and FSD News

Tesla held its Q3 2025 earnings call on Wednesday after reporting record quarterly revenue of $28.1 billion and $1.37 billion in net income. The call was attended by CEO Elon Musk, CFO Vaibhav Taneja, head of Investor Relations Travis Axelrod, AI chief Ashok Elluswamy, and other company executives.
Tesla has now surpassed more than half a trillion dollars in total lifetime revenue — a major milestone that comes as Tesla continues to scale its vehicle, energy, and AI businesses.
On the autonomy front, Musk reiterated his confidence in Tesla’s ability to achieve “Unsupervised” Full Self-Driving (FSD) at a safety level “much greater than a human,” confirming that FSD 14 will soon gain new “reasoning” capabilities in version 14.3. Musk described an example where the car could “drop you off at the entrance of the store and then go find a parking spot” — marking a major step forward in Tesla’s AI-driven driving logic.
Tesla’s AI chief, Ashok Elluswamy, said over six billion miles have now been driven using FSD (Supervised). The company also confirmed that a “V14 Lite” version of FSD will arrive for Hardware 3 vehicles in 2026, ensuring older Tesla owners continue to benefit from software updates.
Musk also revealed that Tesla’s fully autonomous Cybercab will enter production in Q2 2026, featuring no steering wheel or pedals. The company expects to operate Robotaxis in 8–10 metro areas by year-end, including Nevada, Florida, and Arizona, with large portions of Austin ditching safety drivers/monitors before 2026.
On the robotics front, Musk said Tesla plans to unveil the Optimus V3 humanoid robot in February or March 2026, calling it “so real that you’ll need to poke it to believe it’s an actual robot.” A production-intent prototype is coming early next year, with plans for a one-million-unit production line by the end of 2026.
Tesla’s next-generation AI5 chip, co-developed with Samsung and TSMC, was also teased. Musk said the new hardware will be “40X better than AI4” and deliver the best performance per dollar by a factor of ten. The chip eliminates legacy GPU and ISP components, simplifying the design and boosting efficiency.
Meanwhile, Tesla Energy delivered record results in Q3, with gross margins hitting an all-time high of 31.4%. Tesla also began production of a new residential solar panel in Buffalo, with customer shipments expected in Q1 2026.
Musk closed the call by reaffirming Tesla’s mission of “sustainable abundance,” emphasizing that AI, autonomy, and robotics will be key drivers of the company’s long-term vision.
