Tesla Software Update 2025.38 Adds 3D Buildings to Navigation and More

Tesla has begun rolling out software update 2025.38, introducing a number of new features and improvements for owners — headlined by the addition of 3D buildings and cityscapes in the built-in navigation map (via @max_bracco).
According to the release notes, drivers can now “see buildings and cityscapes in more detail with 3D view.” To enable the feature, switch to Map View and tap the cube-shaped 3D icon. The feature requires Premium Connectivity and is currently only available on newer Tesla vehicles equipped with AMD-based infotainment hardware. As confirmed by users online, older Intel-based models don’t appear to support 3D view.
This follows a recent update last month (version 2025.32.3.1) that fixed Bluetooth audio lag issues on AMD-powered Teslas, further showing that Tesla continues to tailor select updates to its newer, faster in-car processors.
Alongside the visual update, software version 2025.38 brings a few smaller but welcome additions. Dashcam Viewer now includes street names in event details (when available) — making it easier to identify recorded clips — and the Mobile Dashcam Viewer now supports higher-resolution streaming and downloads, provided users have version 4.49.5 of the Tesla app (or newer).
The update also adds new left scroll wheel functions, allowing quick access to features like Bioweapon Defense Mode, Mute Navigation, and Music Light Sync (if supported). Pressing and holding the left scroll wheel opens a menu for these new controls. Tesla also notes improvements to the onboarding guide, along with general security and stability fixes.
This update comes shortly after Tesla began rolling out software version 2025.32.8.5 earlier this week, marking the public release of Full Self-Driving (Supervised) 14.1. That release has been well-received by early users, with FSD versions 14.2 and 14.3 — expected to make the system feel even more “like it is sentient,” according to CEO Elon Musk — set to arrive in the coming weeks.
The highlight of 2025.38 is undoubtedly the new 3D map view, which adds richer detail and depth to Tesla’s navigation experience. Although, at least for now, it remains exclusive to owners of AMD-equipped models.
