Tesla Cybercab Spotted Testing at Giga Texas and Fremont

Tesla’s long-awaited Cybercab has been spotted at both the company’s Fremont test track in California and at the Giga Texas crash test facility — a sign that the next-generation autonomous vehicle is getting closer to production readiness.

Drone footage from earlier this week that was shared online captured the first public sighting of the Tesla Cybercab at the Fremont factory’s outdoor test area, showing the compact, futuristic vehicle in motio. Check out the full video below:

According to longtime Giga Texas watcher Joe Tegtmeyer (@JoeTegtmeyer), the first Cybercab has also been seen at the factory’s crash testing site in Texas.

“If this follows how the Cybertruck proceeded, we are likely a month or two before we will see initial test runs of what will be the production version,” Tegtmeyer said, noting that the vehicle’s move to Texas likely signals the final phase of pre-production validation.

The Cybercab, Tesla’s upcoming two-seat, all-electric autonomous vehicle, is designed specifically to operate on its Robotaxi network. The compact EV will feature upward-swinging scissor-style doors, minimalist styling, and a purpose-built cabin optimized for shared use. Tesla plans to allow owners to add their own vehicles to the network, helping scale the ride-hailing service rapidly.

This latest development comes just a couple of weeks after Tesla secured a new patent for its “Unboxed” manufacturing process, which will be partly used to build the Cybercab. The process focuses on producing vehicles in modular sections that are later assembled by a robotic assembly, improving factory efficiency and lowering production costs.

Over the past few months, drone footage from Giga Texas has also shown what appears to be Cybercab production equipment arriving at the facility. The vehicle made a brief cameo in a Tesla promotional video released for the Fourth of July, hinting that its design is nearly final.

With the Cybercab now undergoing tests at both Fremont and Giga Texas, it’s looking increasingly likely that Tesla is approaching the next major milestone in its Robotaxi ambitions.
