SpaceX is expanding its free Starlink Mini promotion to select Residential subscribers in the U.S. and Canada who’ve been customers for over a year. Eligible users are receiving emails offering the $499 Starlink Mini kit at no cost, along with discounted rates on Roam plans.
“As a thank you for being a Residential customer for over a year, you’ll receive a $0 Starlink Mini — so you can take the same fast, reliable internet you use at home anywhere you go,” reads the email from Starlink.
The offer provides customers with a portable Starlink Mini kit that includes built-in Wi-Fi and a kickstand, making it easy to take on the road. The dish is small enough to fit in a backpack, making it perfect for travel, camping, or boating. The Mini will stay in Standby Mode for $5 USD ($7 CAD) per month, providing unlimited low-speed data for backup connectivity and emergency messaging.

When users want to activate the Mini for travel, they’ll also enjoy 50% off Starlink Roam plans. Roam service starts at $50 USD ($70 CAD) per month for 50GB of data, while the unlimited tier costs $165 USD ($189 CAD) per month.
This expansion comes after Starlink launched the same promotion in Australia last month, offering longtime Residential customers a free Mini dish and half-price Roam plans. Unlike purchasing the hardware outright, the free Mini kit is treated as a rental — users will need to return it if they cancel their Residential subscription or the service plan on the Mini.
For those who prefer to own their hardware or don’t want to wait for this offer to hit their inbox, Starlink is also currently offering a $200 discount on the Mini dish, bringing the price down to $299 in the U.S. and $399 in Canada.
This free Mini dish offer is exclusive to existing customers subscribed to the Residential plan for more than a year. To attract new users, Starlink recently dropped the price of its Standard dish to just $89 in the U.S. — the lowest ever — and $249 in Canada, along with lower monthly plan rates.
