Tesla Robotaxis Get Gold Route Visuals in Update: Is this Unsupervised FSD?

Tesla’s Robotaxi fleet appears to be testing a new version of Full Self-Driving (FSD) software that introduces gold route visualizations on the in-car display, fueling speculation that this could be the long-rumoured “Unsupervised” mode.
Over the weekend, X user @klwtts shared images and video of a Robotaxi pulling over for an emergency vehicle. The in-car UI showed a distinct gold guiding line, with routes and even the parked status for Robotaxis highlighted in gold. Other users quickly speculated that this could signal the first rollout of unsupervised FSD.
What makes this particularly interesting is the timing. Elon Musk confirmed that Tesla would start rolling out FSD version 14 to owners on Monday, following a short delay caused by a last-minute bug. Tesla’s Robotaxi fleet, however, has always been positioned to receive FSD updates earlier than consumer vehicles, which makes it likely that the version spotted in San Francisco is FSD 14.
Musk has described FSD 14 as being powered by a model with 10 times more parameters than the current release, promising “a dramatic gain” in performance along with other refinements. Once Tesla confirms safety in real-world driving, one of the key practical improvements will be fewer driver attention reminders, with the system set to “nag you much less.”
Of course, the gold visualizations may simply serve as a way to distinguish Robotaxis running on FSD from normal Teslas using the software, rather than representing a full leap to unsupervised driving. Still, the update marks a noticeable UI change, and it could be giving us an early look at what Tesla owners will soon experience with FSD 14.
This release is shaping up to be Tesla’s most anticipated software update since the launch of FSD V12, which first introduced end-to-end neural networks and significantly advanced autonomous driving capabilities. Whether the gold lines truly represent unsupervised driving or not, they point to Tesla preparing for its next big step in autonomy.
