Tesla Sets Record with 4,000 New Supercharger Stalls Opened in Q3 2025

Tesla has set a new quarterly record for Supercharger expansion, opening 4,000 new stalls worldwide in Q3 2025, marking the largest increase in the company’s history. The milestone was shared by the official @TeslaCharging account on X, which posted updated network growth stats for the quarter. Tesla’s global Supercharger network grew 18% year-over-year, underscoring the company’s continued focus on bolstering EV charging infrastructure as adoption accelerates.

The record quarter included Tesla’s first-ever 500 kW, fully V4 Supercharger site, which went live in Redwood City, California, on September 29. Unlike previous upgrades that only swapped out charging posts for the newer V4 designs, the Redwood City installation also features brand-new V4 Supercharger cabinets.

Each V4 cabinet can support up to eight stalls — double the capacity of V3 — with three times the power density and lower deployment costs, paving the way for faster and more affordable rollouts in the future. More V4 Supercharger sites are expected to follow in the coming months.

Tesla has also been experimenting with new ways to bring awareness to its charging network. Just last week, Tesla started advertising Superchargers on highway signs for the first time, a sign the company is now treating its network as a competitive advantage not just for Tesla owners but for the growing number of non-Tesla EV drivers that can now plug in.

Supercharging demand continues to grow alongside vehicle sales, with Tesla reporting 54 million charging sessions globally in Q3, a 31% year-over-year increase. The company also noted that its network delivered 1.8 TWh of energy during the quarter, saving the equivalent of 842 million liters of gasoline.

Tesla’s rapid expansion of its charging network comes at a time when competition in the EV market is intensifying. But with the combination of faster V4 hardware and visibility through highway signage, Tesla looks well-positioned to keep its charging experience ahead of rivals.
