The Boring Company has officially opened its new Global Operations Control Center in Bastrop, Texas, the tunneling startup announced on X. According to the company, engineering and operations teams can now remotely monitor and control multiple Boring Machines simultaneously across the U.S. from this single room.
This marks a major step forward for The Boring Company, as centralizing machine oversight into one location will help streamline operations, reduce downtime, and improve coordination across ongoing and future projects. Instead of relying on site-specific control rooms, the Bastrop facility allows real-time monitoring of and adjustments to tunneling operations nationwide.
The Boring Company is currently developing a new underground tunnel system in Nashville, Tennessee. That project has already attracted scrutiny, with the City Mayor’s office recently raising safety and permitting questions. Having a centralized operations center in Bastrop could prove instrumental in addressing such concerns, offering robust monitoring and a clear line of accountability.
Bastrop itself has become something of a hub for Elon Musk’s companies. In addition to The Boring Company’s Hyperloop Plaza and now its global control center, the area is also home to X’s corporate headquarters and a significant SpaceX presence. Just earlier this month, SpaceX announced plans to invest $8 million in Bastrop to add 80,000 square feet of new office space, further cementing the city as a center of operations for Musk-led ventures.
With tunneling projects expanding across the U.S. and new proposals surfacing regularly, the Global Operations Control Center could be a key enabler for The Boring Company’s growth. Centralized oversight means increased efficiency, faster response times to issues, and better coordination between sites — all critical factors as the company works to scale its futuristic vision of transportation.
