SpaceX is preparing another round of growth in Central Texas, with plans to kick off an $8 million expansion at its Bastrop site later this month — reports MySA.

According to a project filing with the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation, SpaceX will begin work on September 24 to add 80,000 square feet of new office space to its Bastrop facility. Construction is expected to wrap up by early January 2026. The site is located along FM 1209, just outside of Austin, near the Boring Company’s operations and Elon Musk’s X headquarters at Hyperloop Plaza.

This marks the latest in a series of expansions for SpaceX in Bastrop. Last year, the company invested another $8 million into enlarging one of its buildings to boost Starlink production as global demand for the satellite internet service surged. Starlink last month surpassed 7 million users across 150 countries and territories, underscoring its rapid growth.

In addition to the new $8 million project, SpaceX is also benefiting from a $17.3 million grant awarded earlier this year by the Texas Semiconductor Innovation Fund. That funding will support the company’s semiconductor research and advanced packaging facility in Bastrop, which is expected to expand by 1 million square feet over the next three years. The state projects the investment will create more than 400 new jobs and spur over $280 million in capital commitments.

The news of SpaceX’s Bastrop expansion comes just days after the company struck a massive $17 billion spectrum deal with EchoStar, aimed at bolstering Starlink’s wireless capabilities. Together, these moves highlight how Elon Musk’s space company is continuing to scale both its infrastructure and broadband footprint at a rapid pace.

Backed by state support and private investment, Bastrop is poised to become an important hub for SpaceX’s Starlink operations, advanced manufacturing, and the broader Musk business ecosystem in the years ahead.
