Tesla has officially opened its new direct delivery center at Giga Texas, with cars already being handed over to customers. The new delivery hub is located on the north end of the factory’s West End-of-Line building and is designed to streamline the pickup experience for buyers in the region.
As part of Tesla’s end-of-quarter delivery push, the company is hosting a special event at the site. According to longtime Giga Texas watcher Joe Tegtmeyer (@JoeTegtmeyer), Tesla is holding a “Direct Delivery Day,” with customers able to bring their families, let kids drive miniature Cybertrucks on a small track, see a Tesla Semi, and even watch vehicles drive themselves straight from the factory to the outbound lots.
Tesla is also offering rides in one of its Robotaxis to the Gigafactory for vehicle pick-ups, with eligible buyers receiving 24-hour access to the autonomous ride-hailing service within the Austin geofence on their delivery day.
The festivities are expected to continue through the end of September, marking what could become a new tradition for Tesla owners in Texas. The new delivery center not only gives customers a unique pickup experience but also helps Tesla efficiently manage the year’s biggest delivery wave.
Tegtmeyer also observed that production and new vehicle inventory at Giga Texas is “off the charts,” with both east and west outbound lots full and overflowing with vehicles awaiting delivery. Tesla appears to be moving record volumes from the Austin factory this month.

The surge comes ahead of the September 30 expiry of the $7,500 U.S. federal EV tax credit, which has driven a spike in demand as buyers rush to take advantage of the incentive. Earlier in the quarter, Tesla also encouraged customers to take delivery by quarter-end with discounts and additional incentives.
With its new direct delivery center and unique factory pickup experiences, Tesla is adding another layer of excitement to what is already shaping up to be a redeeming quarter for Giga Texas after months of decline.
