Tesla is gearing up for a major end-of-quarter direct customer delivery event at Gigafactory Texas. Longtime factory watcher Joe Tegtmeyer (@JoeTegtmeyer) shared images this week showing outbound lots packed with reads-to-deliver vehicles and new setups being put in place ahead of the push. The event will be hosted at Tesla’s new customer delivery center at the Austin Gigafactory, located on the north end of the West End-of-Line (EOL) building.
The new delivery hub has been designed to streamline the pickup process for customers, and it looks like Tesla plans to put it to the test with a high-volume handover event as the quarter closes. Recently, Tesla even started offering customers the chance to ride in one of its Robotaxis to the Austin factory to collect their new vehicle, further underscoring the company’s push to showcase its latest innovations.
As of this week, Giga Texas’ outbound lots are filled to the brim with Tesla EVs awaiting delivery. This end-of-quarter surge comes just ahead of the September 30 expiry of the $7,500 federal EV tax credit, which has been driving demand for Tesla vehicles and other EVs across the U.S.
The public delivery center itself appears ready to welcome customers with a festive atmosphere. Tegtmeyer noted new tents being set up and even kid-sized Cybertrucks on-site, complete with a small driving course for children. It’s a mix of efficiency and customer-friendly flair that’s becoming characteristic of Tesla’s big delivery events.
With Tesla aiming for a strong close to the third quarter, the Giga Texas delivery event highlights both the scale of production coming out of the factory and the company’s efforts to make picking up a new Tesla a unique experience. Customers who head to Austin for their delivery during this final week of the quarter may find themselves part of a much larger milestone for the automaker.
