Tesla has quietly improved its use of Live Activities on iPhone, this time expanding the feature to cover mobile service appointments. As spotted by Not a Tesla App, the latest update to the Tesla app now shows a Live Activity on the iOS Lock Screen or Dynamic Island while your vehicle is being serviced by a mobile technician.
This quality-of-life addition means owners can now monitor the status of their service visit at a glance, without having to sift through multiple push notifications or open the Tesla app itself. Updates include the technician’s estimated time of arrival, when they’re en route, when they’ve arrived, an estimated time of completion, and confirmation once service is complete.
For those unfamiliar, Live Activities is an Apple feature introduced in iOS 16 that provides real-time, persistent updates directly on the Lock Screen and Dynamic Island. Tesla first added Live Activities earlier this year for Supercharging, allowing owners to view charging progress without unlocking their phones. The company rolled out that update back in May.
Tesla’s new Service Live Activity is currently limited to mobile technician visits rather than longer service center appointments, which can span multiple days. However, this still represents a useful upgrade for owners scheduling quick, same-day service.
Looking ahead, Tesla could expand Live Activities to more features. Roadside Assistance, for example, could benefit from real-time updates in urgent situations. Cabin preconditioning could also be another candidate, giving owners glanceable confirmation that their car is warming up or cooling down — particularly useful during extreme weather.
On the Android side, Google is expected to debut a similar system called Live Updates with Android 16. Tesla will likely adopt this functionality once it becomes widely available.
While small, this addition reflects Tesla’s ongoing effort to tighten the integration between its vehicles and the mobile app, delivering more convenience for owners in everyday situations.
