Tesla has updated its referral program in the U.S. and Puerto Rico, increasing the perks for buyers of its higher-end models.

• For Buyers: Use a referral link to get $1,000 off a Model S, Model X, or Cybertruck — up from the previous $250 discount. Buyers of the more affordable Model 3 and Model Y still get three free months of Full Self-Driving (Supervised) with their order.
• For Referrers: You’ll continue to earn $250 in Tesla credits for every successful referral, regardless of which vehicle the buyer chooses.

While the new $1,000 discount isn’t quite as generous as last year’s limited-time $2,000 off across Tesla’s entire lineup, it’s still a solid deal — especially considering Tesla recently raised prices by $10,000 on all Model S and X trims and bumped the Cybertruck Cyberbeast up by $15,000. Those increases came alongside Tesla making its Luxe Package standard on all new Model S/X and top-end Cybertruck orders. The Luxe Package includes Full Self-Driving (Supervised), lifetime Supercharging, lifetime Premium Connectivity, and four years of Premium Service.

That makes the $1,000 referral discount particularly enticing if you’re eyeing one of Tesla’s higher-end models, since every bit helps after the recent hikes. The referral discount also stacks with Tesla’s Military, First Responder, Teacher and Student Purchase and Lyft Driver Purchase programs, each of which offers $1,000 off vehicle orders upon verification of eligibility.
