Tesla Introduces New 7-Year Warranty on Costly EV Parts for 2026 Models

Tesla has quietly expanded its warranty coverage for 2026 model year vehicles in the U.S. and Canada, adding a brand-new layer of protection for owners of its S3XY lineup — reports Not a Tesla App.

According to new warranty documents, Tesla is introducing a “High-Priced Propulsion-Related Part Warranty,” which adds 7 years or 70,000 miles (110,000 km) of coverage on certain expensive components. This comes on top of Tesla’s basic vehicle warranty (4 years or 50,000 miles) and its existing 8-year battery and drive unit coverage.

The new warranty applies to the Model S, Model 3, Model X, and Model Y, but curiously does not extend to the Cybertruck.

Here’s a list of the parts covered under the new 7-year warranty:

  • Power Conversion System (PCS) Assembly
  • PCS Inlet and Outlet Assembly Hoses
  • Ancillary Harness Assembly
  • High Voltage Fast Charge Contactors Assembly
  • High Voltage System Controller
  • Front and Rear Halfshaft Assemblies
  • Front, Right, and Left Electrical Harness Assemblies
  • Supermanifold Assembly
  • Cooling Fan Assembly
  • Radiator

This addition is a clear win for Tesla buyers, offering peace of mind on some of the most critical EV components well beyond the standard coverage period. The PCS, for example, plays a crucial role in enabling both Level 1/2 home charging and DC fast charging — and without it, the vehicle can’t charge at all.

The move follows Tesla’s recent expansion of its extended warranty services. Earlier this summer, the company launched a monthly extended warranty subscription in the U.S. before bringing it to Canada last month. Before that, extended warranties were only available as a one-time purchase, locking buyers into the entire term upfront.

The exclusion of the Cybertruck is notable, likely due to its unique 800V/48V electrical architecture and Tesla’s need for more long-term reliability data before extending similar coverage. Still, the fact that Tesla is willing to back so many key parts on its mainstream lineup for up to 7 years of ownership signals growing confidence in its vehicle reliability.
