Tesla is scaling up production at its Giga Berlin factory through the remainder of 2025, as demand for the Model Y continues to surge across Europe and beyond.
André Thierig, Senior Director of Manufacturing at the plant, told German media that “very good sales figures” prompted the automaker to revise its production plans upwards for both Q3 and Q4 (via WebProNews). “We supply well over 30 markets and definitely see a positive trend there,” he added.
The news comes just weeks after Tesla marked a major milestone at the site, producing its 100,000th refreshed Model Y. More recently, the factory began building the updated Model Y Performance, which is currently available only in Europe, Australia, and New Zealand.
In addition to meeting demand across Europe, Giga Berlin has started exporting vehicles to Canada to help Tesla offset steep tariffs on imports from its U.S. and Chinese plants. Earlier this year, the German site also celebrated producing its 500,000th Model Y overall since opening, underscoring its growing importance in Tesla’s global strategy.
Tesla has been steadily expanding the Grünheide facility. Stage one of an upgrade project was approved last year, setting the groundwork for eventually doubling capacity. The factory is also integrating more automation, including the use of Full Self-Driving (FSD) tech for internal vehicle movements.
With European EV sales holding strong, analysts say Berlin’s production ramp could allow Tesla to post record output figures by year-end. The move highlights Tesla’s agility in scaling operations, even as it navigates challenges such as supply chain pressures and environmental scrutiny in Germany.
Thierig’s comments follow broader signs of momentum for Tesla in Europe, with reports suggesting Q3 deliveries across the region are on pace to exceed expectations. The production boost also aligns with Tesla’s long-term goal of building 20 million vehicles annually worldwide.
