Tesla has set a new sales record in South Korea, delivering 7,974 vehicles in August 2025, according to data shared by Tesla Korea (@tesla_korea) on X. This marks the company’s best-ever monthly performance in the country and firmly establishes South Korea as Tesla’s third-largest market this year, behind only the United States and China.

The refreshed Model Y, which launched in Korea this past April, once again led the charge. With 6,683 deliveries, the crossover was the best-selling imported vehicle in August and the second-best-selling vehicle overall across the entire Korean market. The Model 3 added another 1,290 units, bringing Tesla’s share of South Korea’s imported EV market to a dominant 73% last month.

Tesla Korea noted that the Model Y has topped imported car sales in the country every month since May, following its April launch. The momentum builds on a previous record set just one month earlier, when Tesla delivered 7,357 vehicles in July. In total, Tesla has now delivered 34,543 cars in South Korea so far in 2025, its highest year-to-date figure since entering the market, with the trajectory pointing to an annual all-time high by year’s end.

August’s success also highlights how rapidly Tesla has grown in a market traditionally dominated by German luxury brands. According to the Korea Automobile Importers & Distributors Association (KAIDA), overall imported car sales in Korea reached 27,304 units last month, with Tesla alone accounting for nearly 30% of that figure.

Tesla’s sales numbers could climb even higher in the coming months, with the company officially launching the Cybertruck in South Korea on August 29.
