Tesla App Code Reveals New ‘Challenges’ Rewards Program in the Works

Tesla may soon introduce a new way to keep owners engaged with their cars. Hidden references in the company’s latest mobile app update suggest a gamified “Challenges” system is in development, offering rewards for completing certain tasks.
As uncovered by @Tesla_App_iOS on X, version 4.48.5 of the Tesla app for iOS includes multiple new code strings pointing to “Tesla Challenges.” API endpoints such as CHALLENGES_GET_INFO and CHALLENGES_START appear to set the groundwork for digital achievements within the app.
While details remain limited, examples could include activities like frequent Supercharging sessions or testing Full Self-Driving (FSD) features, with rewards tied to vehicle or energy product usage achievements. New graphics spotted in the code, including a trophy icon and even a 1 million Powerwall badge, reinforce the idea that Tesla wants to gamify ownership.
This isn’t the first time the Tesla app has teased upcoming features before they’re officially announced. Last week, references surfaced pointing to an upcoming “Low Power Mode” for vehicles. Earlier in August, the Tesla app also gained a new AI-powered support agent designed to help owners troubleshoot issues more effectively.
Beyond the new Challenges system, version 4.48.5 also revealed app support for the new, China-exclusive Model Y L and the Model Y Performance that launched last week in Europe. The update also mentions a new Silk Road Silver paint color and additional wheel options for the two new Model Y trims. In addition, some code strings hint at further integration of Tesla’s growing Robotaxi platform, with references to ride-hailing functionality.
There’s no timeline for when Tesla Challenges could officially roll out, but it’s clear the company is actively developing the feature. More details may surface in future app updates, so stay tuned to learn more.
