Starlink Giving Former Customers Free Internet Until September 30

SpaceX’s Starlink is trying to win back former customers by offering a free month of service to subscribers who previously canceled their plans.

According to an email sent to users, eligible subscribers will get free Starlink service until September 30, 2025. To take advantage, customers simply need to plug in their Starlink dish with a clear view of the sky. The promotion applies only to canceled service lines. Once the free period ends, users can keep service by switching to their preferred plan through their account.

In the email, Starlink highlighted how its network has improved significantly over the past year with the launch of more than 2,300 new satellites, delivering faster speeds, lower latency, and more reliable connections worldwide.

Subscribers who cancel their Starlink service can always re-subscribe later, though the company recently changed how paused accounts work. Previously, customers on most plans could pause service free of charge. That feature has now been replaced with a new $5/month “Standby Mode,” which provides unlimited low-speed internet instead.

The move comes as Starlink has also been running promotions to attract new customers. In both the U.S. and Canada, the company recently slashed Residential plan pricing for the first year of service while also deeply discounting its Standard dish. Starlink also announced this week that it now serves over 7 million customers across 150 countries, marking one of the fastest growth rates ever for an internet provider.

By re-engaging former users with a free trial and offering aggressive discounts for new ones, SpaceX is continuing to push Starlink into more households as it rapidly scales its global satellite internet service.
