The Model Y L launch follows multiple sightings of the SUV uncovered in China over the weekend, as well as the recent debut of the Model 3+ with a record 830 km range. Both vehicles were originally announced together back in June.

With over 35,000 reported orders on launch day, the Model Y L is off to a strong start. It is already on display in many Tesla showrooms across China ahead of deliveries beginning next month.

For now, the Model Y L is exclusive to China, but global expansion could be on the horizon. A Europe launch seems especially likely, with the larger SUV previously spotted testing in Germany. If the Model Y L proves successful, it could further solidify Tesla’s lead in the electric SUV space by offering a more premium, family-focused alternative to the standard Model Y.
