Tesla Expands Monthly Extended Warranty Subscription to Canada

Tesla has expanded its monthly Extended Service Agreement (ESA) program to Canada, giving owners a new, flexible way to extend coverage once their original warranty expires. The subscription-based program, which first launched in the U.S. earlier this year, allows Canadian drivers to pay month-to-month instead of committing to a large upfront payment for extended protection.
The ESA covers vehicles for up to 48 months or 80,000 kilometres, whichever comes first, beyond Tesla’s Basic Vehicle Limited Warranty. Pricing varies by model, starting at just $70 CAD per month. Here’s the full breakdown:
- Model 3 – $70 CAD/month
- Model Y – $80 CAD/month
- Model S – $170 CAD/month
- Model X – $205 CAD/month
Customers who keep their subscription active for the full term will pay a maximum of C$3,840 on a Model Y, for example. Coverage begins immediately after the Basic or Used Vehicle Limited Warranty expires. Each service visit carries a deductible of $135 CAD. Monthly ESA subscriptions for Cybertruck aren’t available at this time.
The ESA covers most Tesla-supplied parts that fail during the coverage period, protecting owners against potentially costly repairs. Not covered are the 12V battery, bodywork, paint, tires, and routine maintenance parts like brake pads or wiper blades. Damage from accidents, modifications, or normal wear and tear is also excluded.
Owners can sign up for a monthly extended service subscription directly from the Tesla app by following these steps:
- Open the Tesla app.
- Tap Upgrades > Service Plans > Extended Service Agreement.
- Review the terms and tap Subscribe.
The subscription can be canceled at any time, with coverage remaining in effect until the end of the current billing cycle. Once canceled, however, customers cannot re-enroll.
This marks another step in Tesla’s growing lineup of flexible ownership plans. The company already offers insurance in some regions, as well as a monthly windshield protection plan introduced in June. Extended warranties have long been a contentious topic, but Tesla’s approach makes it easier to budget long-term costs without locking into a lump-sum payment.
For Canadian Tesla owners, particularly those in areas with limited access to Service Centres, an ESA subscription could provide peace of mind that repairs will be handled by certified technicians with genuine parts — all without any long-term commitment.
