Tesla Debuts Monthly Wheel and Tire Protection Subscription

Tesla has introduced a new subscription-based Wheel and Tire Protection Plan (WTPP) in the U.S., designed to give owners added peace of mind against damage caused by everyday road hazards. The plan covers issues like punctures, debris, and pothole damage, with flexible month-to-month pricing.
Monthly pricing varies by vehicle:
• Model 3 (non-Performance): $12/month
• Model 3 Performance: $16/month
• Model Y (non-Performance): $16/month
• Model Y Performance: $20/month
• Model S (non-Performance): $20/month
• Model S Plaid: $25/month
• Model X (non-Performance): $20/month
• Model X Plaid: $25/month
• Cybertruck: $20/month
Subscribers get unlimited tire repairs for damage caused by typical road hazards, plus wheel or tire replacements with a $25 deductible per replacement. Coverage applies to all of the vehicle’s tires and begins immediately once the subscription is active, running for up to 24 months unless canceled.
To subscribe, owners must either purchase a new eligible Tesla within the past 30 days, buy four new tires in service, or complete a complimentary inspection. Enrollment is available directly through the Tesla app. To subscribe:
- Open the Tesla app.
- Tap Upgrades > Service Plans > Wheel and Tire Protection.
- Review the terms and tap Subscribe.
The plan does not cover cosmetic damage, theft, vandalism, or pre-existing issues from before the subscription start date. Tires below 4/32” tread are also excluded. For emergencies, Tesla Roadside Assistance remains available 24/7, 365 days a year.
The WTPP joins Tesla’s growing lineup of subscription-based coverage options. The company already offers a monthly Extended Service Agreement (ESA) plan, which was recently expanded to Canada, as well as a monthly windshield protection subscription. By moving away from lump-sum coverage costs, Tesla continues to make ownership more flexible, letting drivers opt into protection plans that best fit their needs.
