Tesla Testing FSD 14, Launch Expected Next Month

Tesla’s next major Full Self-Driving (FSD) update is nearly here, and CEO Elon Musk says it will be a game-changer. In a Sunday post on X, Musk revealed that the new build — FSD 14 — is going through training and testing now, with a public release expected in about six weeks.
The update will feature a model with 10 times more parameters than the current version, which Musk says will deliver “a dramatic gain” in performance, alongside numerous other improvements. Once Tesla confirms real-world safety, Musk noted that FSD 14 will “nag you much less,” reducing the frequency of driver attention reminders.
Earlier this month, Musk said the update would be a “major step-change improvement for rare conditions,” helping the system handle unusual road scenarios more confidently. At the time, he also mentioned that FSD 14 would bring enhancements to video compression loss. While the update will substantially cut the need for constant driver attention, Musk cautioned that complex intersections, heavy weather, or unusual events will still require human oversight.
The Austin Robotaxi version of FSD, which Musk said is currently about six months ahead of what’s in customer cars, reportedly already includes additional AI breakthroughs that make the vehicle feel “eerily human.”. Some of those advancements are expected to trickle down to public builds in the near future.
The current FSD system already demonstrates impressive real-world behavior, from navigating chaotic parking lots to handling unconventional toll booth stops. A model with 10x the parameters promises to improve rare-event handling, lane selection, and overall driving smoothness.
If testing stays on track, Tesla owners could see FSD 14 roll out by late September. What improvements are you hoping FSD 14 will bring? Let us know in the comments below.
