Tesla is set to open its second showroom in India sometime in August, and this time it’s coming to the nation’s capital. The new Tesla Experience Center will be located in Delhi’s bustling Aerocity district, near IGI Airport. Indian tech and EV enthusiast Ishan Agarwal (@ishanagarwal24) was the first to spot the upcoming store, sharing the first image of the under-construction showroom on X.
This Delhi showroom follows the official opening of Tesla’s first-ever Experience Center in India, which launched earlier this month in Mumbai. The launch marked the beginning of Tesla’s long-awaited operations in the country, with the company currently offering the Model Y as its first vehicle for Indian customers.
For now, Tesla is only selling the Model Y in two Rear-Wheel Drive (RWD) variants in India. However, more trims and models are expected to become available as the EV giant expands its presence across the country.
Tesla’s pricing in India is currently significantly inflated due to steep import taxes that range between 70% and 100%. The automaker is actively engaged in discussions with the Indian government in hopes of securing a reduction in these duties. Tesla is reportedly pushing for a tax rate closer to 10%, which would help make its offerings far more competitively priced in the Indian market.
The Aerocity location will serve as the second of several planned Tesla Experience Centers across India. Tesla has ambitious plans for the region, which include opening a service and warehouse centre in Kurla West to complement its existing Pune-based engineering hub and Bengaluru corporate office. Additionally, the company plans to actively deploy Superchargers and destination chargers across key urban centers to support its growing customer base.
The opening of the Delhi showroom will further cement Tesla’s intent to aggressively scale in India, one of the world’s largest automotive markets.
