Tesla has hit another major milestone, announcing the production of the 1,000th Megapack at its new factory in Shanghai, China. The news comes just 5.5 months after mass production began at the site, highlighting Tesla’s rapid scale-up of its energy products business.

The milestone Megapack rolled off the production line at Tesla’s Shanghai Megafactory, located in the Lingang New Area of Pudong, not far from Gigafactory Shanghai. This marks Tesla’s first dedicated energy storage facility outside the U.S., with the newly built Megapack already destined for Europe, according to the official Tesla Asia account on X.

Tesla’s Megapacks are utility-scale battery systems designed to store excess energy generated by renewable sources like wind and solar. These powerful lithium-ion battery units are increasingly being used to stabilize energy grids around the world, especially as countries transition to cleaner power.

In addition to the Shanghai Megafactory, Tesla is continuing to ramp up its global Megapack production capacity. Earlier reports suggested the company plans to build a massive new Megapack factory in Brookshire, Texas, which is expected to create 1,500 jobs and further strengthen Tesla’s footprint in the energy sector.

Back in November, Tesla celebrated the production of its 10,000th Megapack at its Lathrop Megafactory in California, demonstrating just how quickly demand for the product is growing.

With projects underway across the U.S., Australia, Europe, and even China’s largest grid-scale battery power plant, Tesla’s Megapacks are becoming a go-to solution for energy storage worldwide.
