Tesla Updates Robotaxi App, Adds Adaptive Pick-Ups and More

Tesla has just rolled out a fresh update for its Robotaxi app — version 25.7.6 (build 6041) on iOS — and it brings a host of quality-of-life improvements, including a new adaptive pick-up behavior that makes the autonomous ride-hailing experience even more Uber-like.

The highlight of this update is that Tesla’s Robotaxis can now pick you up exactly where you are, rather than defaulting to a fixed pickup location on the map. Elon Musk confirmed this behavior in a tweet, replying to a firsthand report by @OwenSparks_, who noted that a Robotaxi pulled up right to him — despite the pinned pickup location being further ahead.

This is a significant improvement in convenience, especially for real-world scenarios where users may not be standing exactly at a predefined point.

The new app version also adds several other enhancements, including:

  • A directional arrow to help users locate their approaching Robotaxi
  • Support for automatic light/dark mode to match system settings
  • UI design tweaks
  • Bug fixes.

Some users have also spotted additional improvements not mentioned in the official changelog — like the app now showing whether nearby restaurants or venues are open or closed.

This update comes just a week after Tesla expanded the Robotaxi pilot’s service area in Austin, Texas. Musk on Sunday confirmed that the Robotaxi software will soon be merged into Tesla’s public Full Self-Driving (FSD) builds. Meanwhile, a Tesla Robotaxi test vehicle was recently spotted operating outside Austin’s geofenced area, hinting at a potential further expansion of coverage in the near future.

The updated Tesla Robotaxi app is now available for testing to those with Early Access to the service. Stay tuned for more as the pilot program continues to evolve.
