Elon Musk Unveils Grok 4, Coming to Tesla Vehicles ‘Next Week’

Elon Musk has officially pulled back the curtain on Grok 4, the latest version of xAI’s chatbot, which he boldly declared is the “smartest AI in the world.” During a livestream on July 9, Musk touted Grok 4 as a major leap forward in reasoning, speed, and multimodal capabilities — and Tesla owners won’t have to wait long to try it out.

Not long after the launch stream, Musk confirmed in a post on X that Grok 4 will be coming to Tesla vehicles “next week at the latest.” This lines up with recent hints spotted in Tesla’s software, which referenced new Grok-related “personalities” likely tied to upcoming AI features for the in-car experience.

Back in January, Musk promised deep Grok integration for Tesla vehicles, describing it as a key part of future software updates. That promise now appears close to being fulfilled.

Grok 4 introduces faster response times, stronger logical reasoning, and expanded multimodal support — meaning it can process not only text, but also images and potentially video in the future. The release also includes specialized variants like Grok 4 Code for developers and Grok 4 Voice for more natural AI interactions.

Beyond the flashy features, Grok 4 has also made waves with its benchmark results. The model currently ranks first on several major AI tests, including ARC-AGI-2 (which was independently evaluated), GPQA for graduate-level problem solving, AIME 2025 math challenges, and LiveCodeBench for coding tasks.

With Tesla integration just around the corner, Grok 4 could soon become a key part of the driving experience — bringing real-time AI assistance, humor, and even coding help right into your car.
