Lucid Air Sets New World Record for EV Range

Lucid Motors has officially set a new Guinness World Records title for the longest distance traveled by an electric vehicle (EV) on a single charge — and it wasn’t even in a specially modified car.

The milestone was achieved by Umit Sabanci, a London-based entrepreneur known for setting and breaking Guinness World Records, in a production-spec Lucid Air Grand Touring sedan. Sabanci drove an astounding 749 miles (1,205 km) between St. Moritz, Switzerland, and Munich, Germany, without stopping to recharge. The route included a mix of alpine roads, highways, and secondary roads, underscoring just how capable Lucid’s electric powertrain really is.

This feat surpasses the previous record of 650 miles (1,045 km) by a significant 100 miles (160 km), further cementing Lucid’s position as a leader in EV range. It also adds more weight to Lucid CEO Peter Rawlinson’s bold claim last year that the company’s technology has overtaken Tesla’s.

“This range record represents a significant milestone – it’s yet another clear demonstration of the technological edge that defines Lucid,” said Eric Bach, Lucid’s Chief Engineer and Senior Vice President of Product. He added that Lucid vehicles “combine world-class vehicle efficiency with the most advanced drive units, ultra-high voltage architecture, and battery management technology available today, which lets a Lucid travel further with less energy than any other vehicles.”

The Lucid Air Grand Touring boasts a WLTP range of 596 miles (960 km) and can add up to 248 miles (400 km) of range in just 16 minutes thanks to its ultra-fast charging capability. With 831 horsepower and a top speed of 168 mph (270 km/h), it balances performance, luxury, and long-distance capability.

This isn’t Lucid’s first endurance feat. Last year, the company partnered with Sabanci and his team to set another world record by crossing nine countries on a single charge, also in a Lucid Air Grand Touring.
