Tesla Dominates U.S. EV Sales in Q2 2025

Tesla remains firmly on top of the U.S. electric vehicle (EV) market, outselling the competition by a wide margin in Q2 2025 despite a year-over-year decline in sales. According to new data, Tesla sold approximately 151,000 EVs in the U.S. between April and June — down 9% from the same quarter last year, but still far ahead of its closest rivals (via @SawyerMerritt).
General Motors came in second with a little over 46,000 EVs sold, representing a massive 111% year-over-year jump and marking the automotive giant’s best quarter for EV sales to date. Ford, on the other hand, saw EV sales fall by 31% year-over-year, moving just 16,000 units in the same period.
Tesla’s grip on the U.S. EV market remains unshaken, even as competitors ramp up production and introduce new models. While the EV pioneer saw a dip in domestic sales, it continues to lead in volume, scale, and brand recognition — especially with the Model Y and Model 3 still among the country’s best-selling EVs.
On the global front, Tesla produced 410,244 vehicles and delivered 384,122 units worldwide in Q2 2025, according to official figures. Although deliveries were slightly lower than Q2 2024, the company is still on track to exceed 1.8 million deliveries globally for the year, solidifying its dominance in the global EV market.
As legacy automakers like GM make gains and the EV space continues to heat up, Tesla’s position at the top of the U.S. leaderboard highlights its continued strength — even in a more competitive landscape.
