Tesla Allegedly Fires Key Head of Operations, Say Reports

Tesla has reportedly parted ways with one of its top executives, Omead Afshar, who was overseeing operations in North America and Europe, according to Forbes, plus other outlets like CNBC and the WSJ.
Afshar joined Tesla in 2017 as an engineer and had risen to become one of Musk’s most trusted insiders. He was promoted last October to vice president of sales and manufacturing, taking on responsibilities previously handled by Tom Zhu.
Just days ago, Afshar posted on X calling the launch of Tesla’s Robotaxi “historic.”
Earlier this month, Afshar recalled working alongside Musk during the grueling “Model 3 hell” production ramp-up, writing:
“I was with Elon nearly every single day… Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Year’s Eve, his birthday… He left the factory to fly straight to his brother’s wedding, barely making it, after helping resolve production challenges.”
Afshar praised Musk’s hands-on approach and personal dedication: “From countless firsthand experiences I cannot begin to describe the immense personal sacrifice and commitment made by Elon, directly from the front line.”
He even shared a late-night photo of Musk taken on his birthday at Tesla’s paint ingress station—“station 1911, resolving the constraint for the entire production system.”
Afshar also recounted the launch of Giga Texas: “Elon slept onsite for a period of time. His direct ask… ‘Your goal is to not let me sleep. The machines need to be running 24/7.’”
The post highlights Afshar’s deep connection to Musk and Tesla’s mission—raising questions about whether the reported firing is final, as his X and LinkedIn profiles still list him as a Tesla employee.
