Tesla Launches Monthly Windshield Protection Subscription

Tesla has quietly rolled out a new subscription-based Windshield Protection plan for U.S. owners, offering refuge from costly front windshield repairs and replacements — especially for vehicles equipped with Tesla’s camera and sensor-packed windshields.
The new plan is available directly through the Tesla app, and pricing varies by model:
-
Model 3/Y: $12/month
-
Model S: $15/month
-
Model X: $23/month
Tesla owners must subscribe to the Windshield Protection plan within 30 days of taking delivery of a new or used Tesla vehicle, and you can cancel anytime — no long-term commitment required.
The plan includes one free front windshield replacement every 12 months, based on your enrollment date. Unlimited chip and minor crack repairs are also covered, with any additional full windshield replacements requiring a $100 deductible per incident. Coverage applies to OEM Tesla glass and includes recalibration of the vehicle’s built-in camera systems, which is critical for maintaining features like Autopilot and Full Self-Driving.
To subscribe, simply:
-
Open the Tesla app.
-
Tap Upgrades > Service Plans > Windshield Protection.
-
Review the terms and tap Subscribe.
According to Tesla’s support page, the coverage applies only to the front windshield and excludes damage caused by vandalism, collisions, or natural disasters. The plan is limited to eligible vehicles only, and Tesla notes that pricing and terms are subject to change.
For Tesla owners already past the 30-day window, you can still subscribe to the Windshield Protection plan after completing a complimentary windshield inspection at a Tesla Service Center or, if a replacement is needed, having your front windshield replaced by Tesla.
Tesla this week also introduced monthly subscriptions for its Extended Service warranty. You can find more details for the new Windshield Protection plan on Tesla’s official support page.
No word yet on when monthly Windshield Protection subscriptions could make their way to Canada or other markets, but stay tuned for updates.
