Tesla and Electrify Expo Launch Weekend-Long EV Test Drives

Tesla is giving potential buyers a new way to try out its electric vehicles—by letting them take one home for the weekend.
As part of a new program called Electrify Weekender, Tesla will be the first automaker to offer extended test drives through a partnership with Electrify Expo, a travelling EV and tech festival. The program kicks off at Electrify Expo Los Angeles on June 21–22.
Unlike standard in-event demos, the Weekender program allows attendees to choose a Tesla model and take it home for two full days. Interested drivers can sign up online or at the event, and Tesla will coordinate the details through its local stores. We’ve previously seen Tesla offer extended test drives for existing customers.
Electrify Expo 2025 Schedule
- June 21–22 – Los Angeles, CA
- July 12–13 – Seattle, WA
- August 23–24 – San Francisco, CA
- September 13–14 – Chicago, IL (new city)
- October 17–19 – New York, NY
- November 15–16 – Dallas, TX (new city)
“Electrify Weekender gives people the freedom to experience EVs on their own terms,” said BJ Birtwell, founder and CEO of Electrify Expo, in a statement to Tesla North. “At our festivals, thousands of attendees get their first taste of EVs through hands-on demos, and that’s often the spark that starts their journey. With Weekender, we’re extending that experience into real life. Giving people more time behind the wheel builds confidence, and confidence drives adoption. This program is about breaking outdated myths, reaching new audiences and showing how EVs seamlessly fit into everyday life. My first EV experience was in a Tesla, so launching this with them feels like a full-circle moment. Now it’s time for others to have that same ‘light bulb’ moment.”
Electrify Expo says the goal is to give people more time with EVs in real-world settings to help ease doubts and build confidence before making a purchase.
Other car brands are expected to join the program at future stops on the tour, which continues through November in cities including Seattle, San Francisco, Chicago, New York, and Dallas.
Last year, the first Cybertruck test drives debuted at Electrify Expo in San Francisco.
