Here’s Apple’s Liquid Glass CarPlay Redesign Inside a Tesla

The Tesla Android Project now supports Apple’s iOS 26, including the major redesign of CarPlay featuring the new “Liquid Glass” look.
Photos shared online show the updated CarPlay interface running inside a new Tesla Model Y, giving a sleek preview of what the overhauled system looks like on a large screen.

The Tesla Android Project is an open-source setup created by developer Michał Gapiński. It allows Teslas to run Android apps — including CarPlay and Android Auto — through the built-in web browser using a Raspberry Pi or Compute Module 4. The system connects via Wi-Fi, doesn’t require any changes to the car itself, and supports GPS, high-quality audio, and streaming services.

In a post on X, the project team welcomed iOS 26, saying the new CarPlay looks especially good on bigger displays and now blends even better with Tesla’s UI if you use black or white backgrounds. They also noted improvements to Apple Music within CarPlay, saying it loads faster and works better than Tesla’s native version of the app.

The project, which is not affiliated with Tesla or Google, continues to evolve — now supporting Android 14 and offering dual-screen functionality across all Tesla models, including the Cybertruck.
