Ford electric vehicle (EV) owners can now enjoy a smoother charging experience thanks to a new feature available through Apple Maps in CarPlay. Starting today, drivers of the Mustang Mach-E and F-150 Lightning can be automatically routed to Tesla’s North American Charging Standard (NACS) fast charging stations, including compatible Tesla Superchargers, during their trip planning.

The feature requires no software update—it’s available now for vehicles using CarPlay with an iPhone running iOS 17or later.

Previously, Ford drivers had to manually select and add a NACS charger to their route. Now, Apple Maps’ EV Routing will suggest NACS charging stations along the way, showing an estimate of the battery level upon arrival and identifying when a charge is needed.

To use the feature, drivers must:

  1. Connect their iPhone to CarPlay.
  2. Open Apple Maps Settings and select NACS fast charging stations as their preferred network (e.g., Tesla Superchargers).
  3. Enter a destination, and Apple Maps will automatically calculate the route, including charging stops if necessary.

Ford drivers will need a Fast Charging Adapter compatible with NACS chargers to use the Tesla Supercharger network. The adapter can be purchased through Ford’s official channels.

Ford was the first automaker to announce access to the Tesla Supercharger network and continues to enhance the EV experience for its customers.
